Two deadlines frame this week in the crypto casino and iGaming market: the court-granted window for Stake in Brazil ran to October 25, and Oklahoma's sweepstakes casino ban takes effect November 1. Here is the reporting, and the on-chain data angle we are watching.
Brazil: Stake's window closed on October 25
A federal court in São Paulo ruled on October 8 that Stake could keep operating in Brazil until October 25, 2026, or until a new ruling changes that, partly blocking the effect of Provisional Measure 1,394/2026, which bans fixed-odds betting. Reporting says Stake had asked for protection through 2029 and that request was denied. The coverage we found is thin and we could not confirm what happened after the deadline, so treat the details as provisional.
What to watch in the data: Brazil-linked deposit flows into Stake's tracked deposit addresses in the days after October 25. A step down would show up in aggregate deposit counts before any operator statement.
Oklahoma: sweepstakes ban starts November 1
- Veto override. Lawmakers overrode Governor Stitt's veto of SB 1589 in May (Senate 34-10, House 68-19).
- Scope. The law targets dual-currency models, and liability reaches beyond operators to payment processors, geolocation providers, suppliers, promoters and affiliates.
- Carve-outs. Tribal casinos are unaffected; Oklahoma still has no legal online casinos or online sports betting.
- Tally. One industry tracker counts Oklahoma as the eleventh state ban; another counts 17+ states restricting the model in 2026. The gap is mostly bans versus broader restrictions.
Sweepstakes restrictions tend to push displaced US players toward offshore crypto operators. That is a hypothesis, not a finding, and the data will show whether US-linked deposits rise after November 1.
Market share: a lopsided on-chain picture
A Bitquery analysis of Ethereum deposits from July 2025 to July 2026 found Stake held about 78% of active on-chain gamblers across the six largest casinos in April 2026, with Roobet next at 16% after losing roughly a third of its on-chain players over the year. Note that this covers Ethereum activity only, so it is a partial view of a multichain market.
Regulation notes
- Malta. Trackers describe new MGA gaming tax rules, but sources conflict on the effective date (August 1 or October 1), so check the MGA's own publications.
- UK. Secondary roundups report added affordability triggers and a 90-day window for KYC and monitoring updates; we have not verified these against the UKGC.
What we're watching next week
- Stake's Brazil status and any shift in Brazil-linked deposit data.
- Operator notices in Oklahoma ahead of November 1.
- Any official confirmation of the Malta tax timeline.
